Planet41 was established on September 28, 2006 with a simple objective: to offer innovative and revenue driving applications and content for mobile users and operators.
The prime movers behind the project is Mr.Somil Gupta and Mr.Kartikeya Watts. Mr.Somil after completing the Computer Engineering, joined Full sail at Florida, USA for CG and before his return to India he started working on technologies for development of exclusive content for Mobile users together with his colleagues.
Kartikeya Watts leads the company's business operations and market alliances. He has been a key player in the definition, development and creation of Planet41’s wireless applications.
At Planet41 he ensures that innovative VAS products are conceptualized and rolled out quickly, with unmatched features and flexibility. His relentless pursuit and ingenious investment on R&D has fuelled the invention of path-breaking contents that will serve the ever-changing needs of the customers as well as build new market benchmarks.
Planet41 was set up in typical entrepreneurial fashion, from a garage in Mumbai, with just eight full timers. Although the beginning was small and its profile low, growth has been consistently furious.
In the course of fulfilling this objective, Planet41 has become one of India's leading mobile content digitisers and is by far the biggest player in its chosen segment. It is also among the fastest growing content developer and aggregator in India.
